With a donation of £600, the Wigan Group of Freemasons hope to help Reflections CIC in their sterling work. Reflections CIC is a Community Interest Company activities day centre for people living with dementia. Based in Orrell, Wigan in a family home, it gives its guests a nice relaxing, homely feel.
Reflections CIC specialise in supporting people with memory problems to age well and enjoy life. Reflections ‘club’ days also give carers a well-earned break.
Research-based evidence proves that engaging in day-to-day activities, using social skills and being surrounded by friends gives someone living with dementia a much better quality of life. All guests are their own person and have their own story to tell. Reflections treat everyone as an individual with complete respect and dignity.
The donation was from a virtual long-distance walk ‘Turkey for Christmas’ by local Freemason John Mason. John completed 2023 miles, which he calculated was the distance from the Freemasons’ Hall at Bryn, Wigan to Istanbul in Turkey, thus the name of his sojourn.
Local Freemasons supported John with encouragement and of course financial donations. This donation is one of a number emanating from the funds raised from John’s walk. Wigan Freemasons are delighted to help in some small way to supporting such a worthy cause as Reflections.
