Thimbleby Shooting Ground, to the east of Northallerton, was the venue for the 2024 Masonic Inter-Provincial Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition. Under bright blue skies, seven teams from across Northumberland, Durham, North and East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Cumberland and Westmorland, East Lancashire and West Lancashire competed against each other, as they worked their way around the various traps of this North Yorkshire shooting ground.
The West Lancashire Masonic Clay Pigeon Shooting Society (WLMCPSS) team comprising of Mike Casey, Jason Rhodes, Dave Smith, Bob Smith, Richard Dennison and Andy McClements, were thrilled to learn from the score announcement that they had won this prestigious event with an impressive 208 out of a possible 300.
High Gun winner Jason Rhodes secured the Les Jennings Hoole Trophy with a score of 44. Second place went to Dave Smith who received the Donna Heyes Trophy and third place to Andy McClements who won the Graham Brereton Trophy. All three top awards along with the presentation of the Inter-Provincial Cup were made by John Thompson, Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Durham.
WLMCPSS Vice Chairman, Richard Dennison said: “We are very grateful to Ummar Hanif and Martin Jameson who worked very hard for us all to ensure a successful competition, hosted by their Province of Durham.” The venue for next year’s competition has yet to be decided.
