Around 90 brethren gathered at Warrington Masonic Hall for the Warrington Group Chairman’s Dinner. The event was hosted by John Tyrer, Chairman of Warrington Group, who warmly welcomed the evening’s principal guest David Barr, Deputy Grand Superintendent for the Province of West Lancashire.

David was accompanied by Stuart Boyd, Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Warrington and Trafford Groups; Michael Southern, Provincial Deputy Grand Scribe Ezra and John Topping, Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah.
The guests were expertly marshalled throughout the evening by Provincial Deputy Grand Directors of Ceremonies, Robb Fitzsimmons and Peter Littlehales. John Tyrer was also delighted to welcome his fellow Group Chairmen, Ian Green of the Wigan and Leigh Group and Patrick Walsh of the Trafford Group.
A lively ‘meet and greet’ in the bar area set a warm tone for the evening. Newly exalted companions and Masons approaching their fourth degree, took the opportunity to speak with David Barr and Stuart Boyd. Stuart, already well known to Warrington Masons, enjoyed meeting the few members he had not yet encountered.

Dinner was served in the Beaumont Suite following grace, delivered by Barry Corcoran. As the toasts commenced, a touch of humour and misdirection entered the proceedings. Pianist Paul Rigby appeared to deliver a stirring rendition of the National Anthem without moving a finger, much to the amusement of all in the room. In truth, the performance had been pre‑recorded by Provincial Grand Organist Stephen Derringer, leaving Paul with the deceptively simple task of pressing a button, which he executed flawlessly.
David Rogers proposed a heartfelt toast to David Barr, reflecting on his distinguished Masonic career. David Barr responded with his customary eloquence and sincerity. A thoughtful toast to the Warrington Group was then delivered by John Topping, with John Tyrer offering a warm and appreciative response. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Warrington Group Executive and Officers for their dedication and to the membership for their support.
John also paid tribute to the many years of service given by John McIntyre, who is retiring from his role as Vice Chairman. He went on to welcome Nick Delaney as the incoming group vice chairman and announced that David Rogers, who had only just relaxed after toasting the principal guest, would be taking up the role of group treasurer. Geoff Wright will assume the position of group secretary.
Gifts were presented to both David Barr and Stuart Boyd, and the evening concluded with the janitor’s toast, delivered by John McIntyre. The event closed on excellent terms, with guests departing after a thoroughly enjoyable and well-attended evening.
