Howard Linaker was installed as first principal at the installation meeting of St Michael’s Chapter No 5756 at Ormskirk Masonic Hall. This was the third time Howard has had the opportunity to occupy the chair and he said he was very lucky to be given the chance to do it all over again.

The ceremony was made more special by the attendance of Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah John Topping. Representative of Provincial Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews. John was accompanied by five grand officers from Supreme Grand Chapter and four acting Provincial grand chapter officers together with Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Stephen Dunn and members and guests.
After concluding the chapter business, Howard was installed as first principal, together with Derek Midgley as second principal and Martin Howell as third principal in a very enjoyable manner by past first principal John Thompson, who was ably assisted by Trevor Phillips as acting second principal and Derek Midgley’s son Robert Midgley as acting third principal, together with other members of the chapter.
After all officers were invested, John Topping addressed the companions and brought greetings from Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews. He then thanked everyone who had taken part and especially mentioned the newer members who had given the readings.
Charity donations which totalled £500 were given in respect of Derian House, West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity and Ormskirk Masonic Hall. Three new exaltees were later proposed for membership so three was definitely a lucky number for Howard.

Afterwards, an excellent festive board was enjoyed by everyone and a raffle raised the magnificent sum of £160. Howard thanked all the guests for attending, particularly mentioning his own distinguished personal guests. In his remarks John Topping wished the chapter well and said it was the first time he had attended Ormskirk Masonic Hall and that he had enjoyed an excellent ceremony and festive board and he hoped to visit again soon.
