At the January 2026 meeting of Tyldesley Lodge No 2572, the brethren raised Carl Rothwell to the rank of a master Mason. Carl was completely ready for the questions as he rhymed them off with ease, he had clearly been attending practises.

Carl was raised by the master of the lodge David Peacock, who performed the ceremony with ease and class. Something a seasoned brother would be happy to witness. This ceremony was particularly special because to a big surprise to Carl, his own father was the senior deacon to conduct him round the lodge. Obviously being in the hands of his own father gave Carl assurance that he was in the right hands. The director of ceremonies, Derek Bond, showed some pride in how all the members handled themselves to be on top form for Carl.
Over the course of the time that Carl has been a Freemason, he has been engaging with as much as he can and as much as he is allowed to get involved with and been making friends through visiting other lodges, something he is enjoying very much. He is now even a member of the executive committee assisting the social board to think of new ideas.
Downstairs at the festive board was a most enjoyable evening with a raffle which pulled in £125. The meal was four courses supplied by Brookfield Hall which was one of the best meals that the hall has ever done. Carl sat near other junior brethren who are looking forward to their third degree. The night ended by Carl replying to the toast to his health, and again, something he was well prepared for even after many glasses of wine with the rest of the brethren.
