As the holiday season began, members of Fermor Lodge No 1313 and Fermor Chapter No 1313 met for the first of their two summer barbeques, offering the brethren a chance to socialise during the summer break as well, of course, to raise some money for charity.

The dual summer barbeques are fast becoming the main event of the summer and the first was once again run by the industrious Richard Jenkinson, fresh from celebrating his promotion to Vice Chairman of the Southport Group.

Richard has a home which is perfectly built for these events and, as always, the perfect host was happy to prove his skill at the barbeque grill as well. It was therefore no surprise this event was, yet again, extremely well attended by local Masons and their families, including the outgoing vice chairman Brian Griffiths, Dean Walters, having been promoted to group secretary and Al Sainter of Southport Regalia.
An extremely merry time was had in the summer sun as all enjoyed a generous amount of food, a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and pleasant conversation in the aid of charity. Following the food business proceeded to the raffle, which took a while as the brethren had outdone themselves by donating a rather massive collection of prizes.

The sun stayed bright and the day warm, enabling all to enjoy an extremely pleasant and relaxing afternoon. The event was also a huge success for charity, with impressive total of £431 being raised in only a few short hours. Thanks, are once again due to Richard, for organising and running such a fantastic event.
