The members of Lodge of Chivalry No 3974 and their guests were delighted to welcome the Provincial Grand Master, Mark Matthews, on a private visit to see Dominik Salters being initiated into Freemasonry.

Assistant Provincial Grand Master David Thomas and the Provincial Senior Grand Warden John Reynolds and the Provincial Junior Grand Warden Ezra McGowan were also in attendance. The Lodge was also honoured by the presence of six members of the sister lodge, Lodge of Chivalry No 5685 that meets in Southampton.
The WM, Wayne McGuffie, along with his team, and Michael Atherton who acted as junior deacon for the ceremony, initiated Dominik Salters in what Mark said was a wonderful ceremony which Dominik will remember for the rest of his life.

Dominik is the third candidate the lodge has initiated in the current season and the members are hoping this will continue as during the meeting a proposal was made to ballot at the next meeting to become a full member of the University Scheme, which the lodge has been trialling this season.
After the ceremony, the brethren retired to the dining room where they enjoyed a wonderful four course meal, with creamy garlic mushrooms aloft toasted brioche to start. Most of the brethren enjoyed the mixed grill for their main course, while those less sturdy enjoyed a gammon steak as an alternative main course. The desert was strawberry cheesecake followed by cheese and biscuits.
Much enjoyment and conversation took place during meal. During the course of the evening, £525 was raised for charity and good causes.
