Through a very generous effort from the Craft brethren and Royal Arch companions within the Leigh Group during last year’s food bank appeal, they generated a wonderful donation of £2,150 for the Atherton & Leigh Foodbank.
The Leigh Group Charity Steward, David Gordon-Williams, presented the cheque to Warren Dunn the project manager, which was gratefully received on behalf of the Kingsleigh Methodist Church, which has its location very close to Leigh Masonic Hall. David was supported by Anthony Roe the Leigh Group Publicity Officer who took the photographs on the day.
There were many baskets and trolleys throughout several areas of the church, of which a large proportion of the food baskets were ones that the church had accumulated from other generous donations.
Many small local businesses and individuals in the town offered food donations, as did major stores and supermarkets, such as Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, and Lidl. All in all, a wonderful effort from those Masons and individuals who contributed some of their finances and a personal contribution and involvement with their time and effort in last year’s foodbank appeal.
