Chapter of Friendship No 241 was founded in 1861 and incorporates Alliance Chapter No 667 and Prince Arthur Chapter No 2631. Meeting at Liverpool Masonic Hall, in the splendiferous surroundings of the Egyptian Chapter Room.

The Egyptian Chapter Room is the perfect setting for any chapter meeting. The brightly coloured banners adorn either side of the chapter room and add to the colourful spectacle, enhancing the chapter meeting and formed the backdrop to the installation meeting of the Chapter of Friendship.
The three principals, John Reynolds, John Marsden and Stan Dawkins, as first second and third principals respectively, opened the chapter in fine form, and having done so, formally welcomed Liverpool Group Chairman David Johnson to the chapter. Scribe Ezra, Neil Francis, announced that first principal John Reynolds has received promotion in the Craft to Provincial Senior Grand Warden, a very well-deserved promotion to be awarded at the next meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge in May. John was warmly congratulated by all present.

Director of ceremonies Simon Gray proclaimed that for the ensuing year John Reynolds, John Marsden and Stan Dawkins, would remain as first, second and third principals. Scribe Ezra, Neil Francis then delivered the scarlet robe address to first principal John Reynolds, who in turn delivered the purple robe address to John Marsden, who subsequently delivered the blue robe address to third principal Stan. An excellent display of ritual which rounded off the proclamation nicely.
Having invested all the officers of the chapter to their respective roles for the ensuing year, at the conclusion of the installation ceremony, Liverpool Group Chairman David Johnson brought the congratulations of the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews, as well as his own personal congratulations for an excellent and well executed installation ceremony, thanking not only the three principals, but the director of ceremonies and other officers who had also taken part.

First principal John Reynolds asked David to accept cheques on behalf of the charities. David announced to all present that the chapter had very generously donated £200 in total, with £100 each to the Liverpool Masonic Hall and West Lancashire Freemasons Charity. David thanked the companions of the chapter for their generous donations.
The chapter was subsequently closed and all retired to dinner in the adjoining Egyptian Dining Room. The festive board was friendly and good fun, with lots of conversation across the table. Over dinner, group chairman David Johnson again congratulated the chapter and the junior companions who have taken up roles within the chapter. With planned exaltations to come the future looks good. The chapter lives up to its name of ‘Chapter of Friendship’ and certainly embodies the ‘essence of friendship’ in both the chapter room and around the festive board.
