As the spring temperatures rose, many of the Southport Light Blues gathered together for a great social night out, in what is fast becoming the go-to date on the monthly calendar. The light blues’ nights out are about making new friends, mixing with like-minded people, sharing experiences and building camaraderie.

Equally important is good food with a couple of beers, or soft drinks for those who were driving home. On this occasion the brethren met up at the arranged muster point of Southport Old Market at 7 pm, before proceeding to New China City for a feast!
The light blues events always seem to be special for one reason or another, and this time one brother was even celebrating his birthday. The brethren were also pleased to have the company of Assistant Provincial Grandmaster David Thomas, an individual whose approachability and friendly manner have made him an extremely popular figure among Southport Masons. Thanks are due, as usual, to the gregarious and energetic Alister Sainter for coordinating the event and taking director of ceremonies duties to greet everyone.
After a couple of rounds in the Old Market, brethren headed over to New China City, where they were served a fantastic banquet consisting of several courses of quality food. Of course, the drinks flowed as well for those who wished to partake. The more relaxed atmosphere of the light blues provided a perfect environment for the various meetings of old and new friends, as the restaurant buzzed with conversation and laughter.
The light blues have been gathering momentum in recent years, and events are becoming more and more frequent. The high attendance is no barrier to new people however. Dark blues, light blues and potential Masons all remain very welcome, where they can meet Masons in an informal and relaxed way. Like many others, they might just find they make friends for life.
