Southport Masonry has always put family and charity first, and on a particular Sunday afternoon 40 ladies descended on Southport Masonic Hall for an afternoon of yoga, meditation and sound bathing. The event was organised by Sharon Stock, the wife of Southport Group Chairman Phil Stock, in conjunction with a number of local yoga teachers.
It was decided that part proceeds from the event would be donated to the Luna Rose Foundation, with the rest going to assisting the families affected by the terrible event of the Southport tragedy. The afternoon commenced with Sharon giving a warm welcome to all who were in attendance for this very special occasion, before she treated them all to a small ‘goody bag’ to take away and help them to relax in the comfort of their own homes.
The wellbeing afternoon then began with the teachers present taking turns to take the ladies through different relaxation and yoga techniques. Firstly, Anna and Miranda stepped forward for a session designed to test the ladies’ flexibility and strength. Debbie followed up by changing tone, treating all present to an ‘inner child’ session where they were taught the fun side of yoga using different objects. Anna then led the ladies through some yogic breath work which led into Sharon’s famous meditation and sound bathing! In parallel, Kirsty offered her time giving massages to those lucky enough to take time out from the yoga.
Following distribution of refreshments, Sharon closed the afternoon by thanking all present for their attendance. Thanks must go to the instructors for taking the time out of their busy schedules to come together, Southport Masonic Group and Julie McGee, the Southport Masonic Hall Manageress, for allowing them to use the wonderful facilities and giving of her personal time in helping to make the day run smoothly.
Finally, thanks must go to all the ladies present, who gave of their time and money to show the charity solidarity and community spirit which are the hallmarks of this proud town. The event proved a huge success, and in the end the generosity and kindness of the ladies in attendance raised an exceedingly impressive total of £1,035 in just a single afternoon.
