A hardy and determined group of South Fylde Freemasons braved the rain and coastal wintry weather at St Annes-on-Sea for the annual Fylde Borough led Service of Remembrance at the stunning Victory Cenotaph in the heart of the seaside town, following a short processional parade from the promenade to Ashton Gardens.

The service is always well attended by civic leaders, emergency services, military organisations, religious orders and numerous voluntary and youth groups. Following a number of readings, prayers and hymns led by a local military brass band, organisations were invited to lay poppy wreaths on behalf of their respective members.
The South Fylde Group were represented by Deputy Grand Superintendent David Barr, Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah John Topping, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master David Randerson, Geoff Crosland and Leon Teale. The five South Fylde brethren formed themselves into a Masonic choir and were in fine voice throughout the singing of the hymns and national anthem.
Pictures and report by John Topping.
