Roy Fenton was installed as the master of Wyreside Lodge No 2605 in the presence of Provincial Senior Grand Warden Mark Humphrey, who was the representative of Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews. Mark was accompanied by grand officers Keith Jackson and Neil McGill. Lancaster and District Group Chairman Chris Larder and, group secretary Lee Fisher were joined by Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Steve Ellershaw, Provincial Assistant Grand Pursuivant Syd Bateson and Provincial Grand Steward Stuart Bateson.

WM Ken Turner opened the lodge in the first degree and conducted the business of the lodge after which acting director of ceremonies Steve Jennings admitted Mark Humphrey, the grand officers, acting Provincial grand officers and group chairman Chris Larder, who were welcomed by the WM. The lodge was opened in the second degree and the WM invited Keith Jackson to occupy the chair of installing senior warden, Steve Plevey from Poulton-le-Sands Lodge No 1051 as installing junior warden and Jack Stackhouse as installing inner guard.
Master elect Roy Fenton was presented for installation by Tony Dawson. The lodge was opened in the third degree and all those below an installed master were requested to retire from the lodge for a short while. The board of installed masters was convened and Roy Fenton was installed as the master of Wyreside Lodge by Ken Turner. The board of installed masters was closed and master Masons readmitted. The third degree working tools were presented by Steve McClintock. The second and first degree working tools were presented by Ken Turner and Tony Dawson respectively.

The WM appointed Martyn Dawson as senior warden and John Worthington as junior warden. The address to the master was given by Jack Stackhouse. The address to the wardens was given by Steve McClintock and Mark Humphrey gave the address to the brethren of Wyreside Lodge.
On completion of the installation ceremony Mark Humphrey brought greetings from the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews to the WM and wished him a successful, happy and healthy year. He congratulated Ken on a superb ceremony and all those who taken part in the ceremony. Mark was then presented with a list of donations that the lodge had made to Masonic and non-Masonic charities totalling £2,320. Mark gave thanks to the brethren of the lodge on behalf of the recipients for their generous donations.
The organist was David Brown and the Master’s Song was performed by Tony Dawson. A total of 33 brethren attended the festive board, where the toast to the WM was given by Ken Turner. Roy Fenton has celebrated his 80th birthday and diamond wedding anniversary. He has five daughters, 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Roy joined the prison service working at Lancaster Castle Prison in 1966. He served at various prisons and retired in February 1998 as a Governor Grade 4, having been Principal Governor at HMYO Campfield House where he oversaw the opening of a prison on Salisbury Plain working with the armed forces. Roy’s hobbies are Freemasonry, travel, cruising and reading.
Roy joined the Duke of Lancaster Lodge No 1353 and was raised in June 1981. He is a former member of Lytham Lodge No 6915 and has been master on three previous occasions, two concurrent years at Mimosa Lodge of Blackpool No 6047 and master of Symphony Lodge No 4924 in 2013. Regrettably both Lytham Lodge and Mimosa Lodge of Blackpool have since returned their warrants. Roy currently holds the rank of Past Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works.
