Brethren of Woolton Lodge No 6448 met at Liverpool Masonic Hall, Hope Street for a proclamation ceremony. The WM, Robert Sawers was elected by the brethren of the Lodge to remain in office for the forthcoming year to allow continuity and for junior brethren to become established within their offices.
Woolton Lodge was honoured by the presence of David Johnson, the Chairman of Liverpool Group and the personal representative of the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews. David he was accompanied by Neil Francis, the Liverpool Group Craft Secretary.
After the opening of the lodge, the lodge director of ceremonies, Gordon ‘Spike’ McConnell proclaimed that Robert Sawers to be the WM of Woolton Lodge for the ensuing year.
The officers of the lodge were appointed and invested in a simple but extremely well conducted ceremony. When all the officers of the lodge were in their positions, David Johnson rose and offered the congratulations of the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews to Robert Sawers and he thanked him for continuing in the role for the year ahead.
The WM then presented David Johnson with cheques for £500 for the charity ‘Breast Mates Cancer Support Group’, £500 for the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity and £200 for the Liverpool Masonic Hall Building Fund. David commended the brethren for these outstanding donations, and he thanked the lodge brethren on behalf of the recipients of these cheques.
The festive board was an extremely convivial occasion with good food, excellent company and of course, much laughter!
