A strong contingent of Preston Masons took part in the City of Preston Service of Remembrance and Parade. Many joined the ranks of the Masonic group whilst others chose to take part as veterans in their own right or as serving members of the military and civic organisations.
Preston Masonic Hall opened early as a muster point for the Masons taking part. They provided hot drinks both before and after the parade. With warm drinks inside, the members set off to the parade muster point outside the bus station.
Whilst waiting at the bus station, this provided the first photo opportunity. There was time for a team photo before the parade was formed up. Helping with that, in his Masonic regalia, was Jamie Whalley as a parade marshal. He guided the members to their place in the parade where the team formed up.
Separate to that, Carl Powell and Alan Whittle, representing various Preston Group Masons, took their places in the official wreath laying party. Carl also helped Jamie Whalley’s son to lay a wreath.
The team marched off at the end of the service to pass by the Mayor of Preston on his dais accompanied by other civic dignitaries. He made his way then to the where the parade ended to thank the participants. The mayor is a good friend to Preston Masons and he expressed his thanks for the Masons being represented on parade.
