The Palace Masonic Hall in St Annes on Sea is renowned for hosting high quality and quite innovative social events; the proceeds of which help to swell the coffers of many charities across the Fylde coast and beyond.

Certainly, in preparation for Easter, the stewards of the Palace Masonic Hall have been extremely creative. Pamela Nicholls and her husband John held a £1 per entry competition to ‘guess how many Easter eggs are in the jar’.
The jar sat on the Palace bar and was an immediate fascination for the South Fylde Group lodge and chapter members over a couple of weeks. The jar was emptied and the contents revealed as 118 easter eggs. No one guessed the exact number but Shaun Keane was just one out with 119, making him the winner of this great prize.
The £50 raised was presented to Paul Caddy coordinator of Wesley’s Community Cafe at Church Road Methodist Church, St Annes on Sea, for them to buy some Easter eggs for the children that use the cafe.
The presentation was made by South Fylde Group Charity Steward David Jenkinson and Robert Bentwood, Chairman of the Board of Directors at St Annes Palace Masonic Hall and a Wesley’s volunteer.
David Jenkinson said that Wesley’s Community Cafe and Larder is a fantastic charity in St Annes on Sea, run by volunteers, that does a great job of providing a safe place for people of the local community to come together, to socialise with friends and enjoy good quality nutritious food for free. The Freemasons of the South Fylde Group, on behalf of the stewards of The Palace, are glad to be able to provide a small Easter treat to the children who visit Wesley’s Café.
