At the Orrell Lodge No 8371 meetings in October and November the brethren were happy to have two new candidates, that came via the Provincial Membership Scheme, to be initiated into the lodge.
In October, Napoleon Ntumazah was initiated into Orrell Lodge by the WM Arthur Pettit and his team of officers. Napoleon was expertly guided around the lodge by the junior deacon Harry Wallwork, assisted by the senior deacon Rod Hitchen, with the working tools perfectly presented by the junior warden James Wheeldon. The Charge after initiation was word perfect and given by Keith Schmechel who is also the Tyler, and throughout the ceremony Napoleon conducted himself with poise and dignity.
The November ceremony was for Adam Ball and was also conducted by the WM Arthur Pettit, assisted by officers of the lodge. Adam is a very confident young man and conducted himself with reverence and sincerity throughout the ceremony.
The WM was again very ably assisted by the junior deacon Harry Wallwork who made Adam feel at ease and guided him around the lodge with the expertise you would expect from a seasoned junior deacon. The charge was again delivered by Keith Schmeichel in excellent form, and as usual, was word perfect.
At the festive boards the toast to the candidates was given by their respective proposers. Napoleon gave a very sincere and humble response, which was obviously from the bottom of his heart which was warmly received and applauded by everyone. Adam also gave a very confident response to the toast to his health.
Present at both meetings were the Wigan Group Chairman John Selley and Wigan Group Membership Officer Gordon Cooke.
The November meeting was the lodge’s second initiation in two months thanks to all the hard work of Gordon Cooke, the group membership officer, who introduced both Adam and Napoleon to Orrell Lodge. This bodes well for the future of Orrell Lodge with these two new young recruits, and also highlights the success of the Membership Pathway.
