Graston Masonic Hall on Island Road, Liverpool, was the venue for the installation of Michael Moore into the chair of King Solomon in Olympic Lodge No 4461. The lodge was opened by WM Peter Ryan in due form and the minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed.

The lodge director of ceremonies Robert James informed the lodge that John McIntyre, the representative of the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews requested admittance, accompanied by the Mersey Valley Group Vice Chairman John Gibbon and other distinguished brethren. Peter was very pleased to grant admittance. The brethren were requested to be upstanding to receive them by Robert James.
WM Peter Ryan welcomed John McInyre to the lodge. The installation ceremony then began with David Cairns presenting Michael Moore as master elect. Michael agreed to take on responsibilities of the lodge and approached the secretary Rober James who read the rules and responsibilities as master elect which Michael agreed.
Michael then knelt before the WM’s pedestal where he took the solemn obligation as master elect, the lodge was then declared a Board of Installed Masters. Steven Cornwell replaced the WM for the inner workings and the demonstration of the signs and then placed Michael Moore into the chair of King Solomon. The Board of Installed Masters was closed after Robert James had explained the working tools of an installed master.

The brethren were readmitted into the lodge and Peter Ryan explained the third degree working tools, Mark Edwards explained second degree working tools and Tony Standish explained the first degree working tools. The address to the WM was delivered by Robert James and the address to the brethren of the lodge was carried out by John McIntyre.
On completion of the installation, John McIntyre brought the congratulations of Mark Matthews to the newly installed WM Michael Moore, and his own congratulations to the brethren who participated in the installation ceremony. Michael then presented John with a cheque for £200 for West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. John thanked the brethren of the lodge for their generosity.
At the festive board, John replied to his toast by saying how much he had enjoyed the warmth, sincerity and meaning on how the ceremony had been conducted. He also mentioned the membership challenge, but this lodge are doing well with recruitment, and they have nearly an all light blue ladder. John also mentioned the Portal and how brethren need to be encouraged to register and finally, any brethren been involved in voluntary work for the community, their hours involved should be logged and entered on the website.
