Norcliffe Lodge of Good Hope No 6937 proudly held their installation meeting at Cleveleys Masonic Hall, West Drive, Cleveleys. In a momentous ceremony, master elect Barry Simmonds was installed into the chair of King Solomon by David Holloway, ably supported by the past masters and officers of the lodge. This significant event marked a new chapter for the lodge, filling it with renewed optimism and tradition.

Barry’s dedicated journey through every role in the lodge, alongside serving as lodge mentor, membership officer and group representative, demonstrates his unwavering commitment to Freemasonry. The event drew 36 Freemasons from across the Fylde coast, underscoring the respect Barry commands amongst his peers. Notable attendees included the principal guest, Provincial Grand Chaplain Rev Canon John Hall accompanied by Grand Officer John Robbie Porter and acting Provincial grand officers David Sangster, Adam Turner and Chris Hardingham whose presence elevated the evening’s prestige.
A most sincere ceremony ensued, with each degree closed in full, showed the excellent standard of Masonic ability that is available to Norcliffe Lodge of Good Hope. The evening was described as a resounding success with charitable donations raised in abundance.
Address to the brethren was given by Rev John Hall, address to the newly installed WM was given by Peter Whiteside with third degree tools and an address to the senior and junior deacons given by David Sangster. The second degree tools were presented by Bill Rogerson and the first degree tools were presented by John Chesters. Finally, the address to the stewards was given by Provincial Steward Chris Hardingham.
Following the ceremony, the brethren enjoyed a most enjoyable festive board prepared by Lee Williams and his catering team, featuring baked fish cakes, roast beef with all the trimmings and apple pie with cream. To complement the evening, Alison Simmonds, wife of the newly installed master, kindly hosted a buffet for wives, partners and friends, enabling everyone to join together after the formal proceedings for fellowship and celebration. The evening was widely regarded as a great success, a fitting start to Barry’s year in the chair of King Solomon and another proud milestone in the history of Norcliffe Lodge of Good Hope.
