The ‘big’ day was approaching, and most households had their gifts wrapped and ready, but Dormer Lodge No 4389 had an early and pleasant duty to perform, that of initiating a new member. New members are always welcome to a lodge and Dormer Lodge is no exception.
The lodge meets within Woolton Golf Club in the Geoffrey Hirst Masonic Suite. WM Paul Fryer opened the lodge in due form and quickly despatched the business so that the treasurer and secretary could attend upon the candidate.
On the return of the treasurer and secretary, they informed the brethren that the candidate had signed the Declaration Book and paid the necessary dues. The candidate, Paul Fowler, had been proposed by Barry Thornley and seconded by Colin Graham, Colin being the DC of the lodge.
Eddie Coultard was requested by the WM to occupy the chair and conduct the ceremony. The candidate was announced in the usual manner and the WM requested the deacons, Paul O’Brien junior deacon and Barry Thornley senior deacon, to escort the candidate for the ceremony.
In a superb ceremony Paul Fowler was duly admitted into Freemasonry, receiving a faultless explanation the working tools of the degree from Dave Constantine and a beautiful rendition of the ancient charge from Paul Boulton. After an excellent ceremony the lodge was closed in due form and the brethren retired to the dining room to continue the festivities.
