Mersey Valley Group Chairman David Atkinson and Mersey Valley Group Charity Steward Steve McNee visited Bridge Chapel Centre, South Liverpool Foodbank and donated a cheque for £500 to their representative Abi Clegg.

The charity has supplied emergency food parcels within the local community and between April 2024 and March 2025. They have supplied 6,855 parcels to people in the local areas which include Netherley, Toxteth and Wavertree, which have 2,264 children between them.
They run eight foodbanks in the South of Liverpool and give out 3-day emergency food parcels consisting of items fresh fruit, vegetables and toiletries. Many people are forced to turn to this organisation because of benefit delays, debt and housing insecurity which drives their need for emergency food. They also have a Citizens Advisor onsite
The second visit was to Home Start Knowsley which is an independent charity established in 1999 to support local families and David donated a cheque for £500 to their representative Andrea Thompson. They have a Jigsaw Project which supports Knowsley families with at least one child with complex needs.
The types of support given are a weekly parent/carer and toddler sensory focused group for children with complex needs, parent support with drop-ins, one-to-one support, family activities during school holidays and fortnightly Saturday morning activity sessions.
This is an example of the Mersey Valley Group working with and supporting local communities in these difficult times.
