When local compassion meets community spirit, the results are truly heartwarming as members of Southport’s Fermor Lodge No 1313 have proudly supported Queenscourt Hospice, helping their remarkable Queenscourt at Home Team continue delivering care and comfort to people in their own homes, both day and night.

Rather than simply writing a cheque, the lodge brethren wanted to make their support personal and practical. Working closely with the hospice, they identified essential equipment that would make a real difference:
Specialist rechargeable neck lights which allow nurses to write notes quietly during night shifts without disturbing patients who are sleeping. Compact powerful torches to help staff safely access patient’s homes after dark and funded entirely by Fermor Lodge brethren.
At a presentation, members of the lodge, including the WM Damon Noone and his father (fifth from left) proudly handed over the equipment to Queenscourt representatives, who were delighted to say a heartfelt thank you.
For Damon, this donation carries a deep personal meaning. His grandmother was lovingly cared for by Queenscourt Hospice before she passed away in 2008 and he is happy to support the wonderful work Queenscourt does in the community. Damon said: “Our members wanted to give something that would directly help the team in their day-to-day care, it means a lot to be able to give something back to Queenscourt.”
Damon, who was put in the chair of King Solomen by his farther, thanked Fermor Lodge brethren for their kindness and to Queenscourt Hospice for the compassionate care they bring to so many across Southport. Together, they’re shining a light in every sense on what community truly means.
