The Light Blues Club held a Rat Pack themed night at Urmston Masonic Hall. Headliner Wayne Devlin, a former Las Vegas crooner and member of Flixton Lodge No 4869, sang two sets of classics made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. much to the delight of the crowd.
“Wayne’s smooth vocals and charismatic stage presence really captured the spirit of the historic Rat Pack,” said Light Blues Club member Adam Walker. “Our members and guests absolutely loved hearing those iconic tunes performed live.”
Special guest singer Aaron Longbottom, a member of Monton Progress Lodge No 6361, also drew huge cheers with his mesmerising performance midway through the evening with amazing renditions of Michael Bublé’s, Feeling Good and even Adele’s Bond theme tune, Skyfall, to name a few. The entire event had the Light Blues Club guests swinging.
The event raised £255, which will support future Light Blues Club events and fundraising efforts for the construction of a new Light Blues Clubhouse facility in the basement of Urmston Masonic Hall, 1881 building. Club members wished to thank all attendees as well as Wayne and Aaron for contributing their talents to such a successful and entertaining evening.
The Light Blues Club hosts regular nights, performances and other events for its members and the community. The Rat Pack Night success promises even more spectacular gatherings ahead. “If you missed out this time, be sure to catch our next special night!” added Adam.
