The light blue Freemasons from the Trafford Group came together once more for a light blues’ breakfast club in a repeat of previous successful events held at Urmston Masonic Hall.

Both light blue and senior brethren alike demonstrated the spirit of fraternal friendship by joining in camaraderie and for wide-ranging discussions of Freemasonry over a deliciously cooked breakfast and event organiser Aaron Longbottom was clearly pleased by its continued success. Aaron explained that the Light Blue Club was a means of getting brethren to make connections outside their own lodges, thus making it possible to organise visits and other engagements across the group.
The club is to hold bi-monthly breakfast meetings, each of which will have a theme with a guest speaker, and on occasions, visits and excursions will be organised.
The meeting, in a somewhat more relaxed atmosphere than the average lodge meeting, enabled the relatively inexperienced light blue Freemasons to take advantage of the more experienced brethren in seeking guidance on various matters within their Freemasonry, both ritualistic and charitable. New members were able to gain various perspectives on progressing through the offices of the lodge and occupying the chair of King Solomon (without too much being given away!).
Events like these really showcase the great benefits of Freemasonry to society in general, and the well-attended event indicates a bright future for the Trafford Group as current members build relationships which will stand all members in good stead for the future, with various levels of experience in Freemasonry being pooled.

The future direction of the group is still relatively uncertain, but by assembling current lodge members together, it is hoped that immense value and friendship will be gained by pointing the way forward for all concerned wherever they may meet.
As the light blues’ breakfast epitomises, the union of the former South Eastern and Eccles Groups is set to strengthen local Freemasonry through fraternal means and it is hoped that the next light blues’ breakfast will continue to bring together brethren from throughout the Trafford Group in support of not only the joint Light Blues Clubs but Freemasonry in general in this area of the Province of West Lancashire.
The breakfast meeting was held at Urmston Masonic Hall and was a full cooked breakfast including tea or coffee and, at just £10 was very well received by the many brethren who availed themselves of it and also, together with the raffle, not only promoted useful discussions about Freemasonry but also raised £110 for local charities in a most enjoyable atmosphere.
Funds gathered during the previous run of light blues’ breakfast meetings, amounted to £266.00 and were donated for a ‘cold cot and privacy pram’ to support families experiencing the loss or stillbirth of a baby. The current collections are yet to be allocated, with the decision to be made at a later date.
