The evening was a great success all round. for Aughton Lodge No 7996 which started upstairs in the lodge room with the balloting for and subsequently welcoming of Derek Gibson into the lodge as a joining member.
A super ceremony followed to pass John Leahy to the degree of a fellow craft. It was truly a team effort with many brethren playing their part in making it a memorable evening for John.
Next, the lodge’s very own grand officer Stewart Cranage presented a Grand Lodge certificate to Andrew Murphy and then explained the significance of his certificate. Many of the brethren present possibly learned a thing or two about the history of the certificate and the meaning of the images thereon.
The brethren of the Lodge voted on supporting the Provincial Food Bank initiative with a pledge of £100 to add to the £1,600 already donated by the group to start the initiative off.
Moving downstairs, there was a very sociable time had by all, with a more casual round table dining experience where the members and visitors were treated to the usual superb service and attention to detail the lodge has become accustomed to at the hall. The brethren were treated to the now traditional November Aughton Lodge Curry Evening, superbly catered by Gary O’Brien and his staff.
The evening was rounded off with the WM of Lathom Abbey Lodge No 6286 Mike Dutton, aided and abetted by several conspirators of that esteemed body of men who once more got their hands on the Ormskirk and Bootle group’s ‘Travelling Gavel’. There has for many years been a close and insoluble connection with Aughton Lodge and Lathom Abbey Lodge and it was a delight for Aughton Lodge WM Lee Birchall to hand over the gavel. Rest assured, the brethren of Aughton Lodge we will be coming for it back at the next meeting of Lathom Abbey Lodge in December.
