Brethren of Tyldesley Lodge No 2572 had their final band concert for 2025 in St George’s Church, Tyldesley. At this band concert, the lodge chose to have Tyldesley Brass Band as the performing act, with well over 200 people in attendance, St George’s Church in Tyldesley was packed out.

The night raised over £2,200 for charities within Tyldesley which we will earmark to give out during 2026. Over the course of 2025 the lodge have so far given out over £7,000 to local charities and good causes within the Tyldesley community. They even gave out 3 cheques on the night to; Damhouse £1,000, St George’s Church £1,500 and the Mayor of Wigan’s charity £1,000. All of which were raised during these monthly band concerts. The lodge was lucky enough to be able to present these cheques to representatives of these charities and good causes on the night as well.
Another benefit of these band concerts is that it shows the community what Masonry is all about, it attracts people interested in charity and giving back to the community and makes them ask, “What is Freemasonry?” The lodge has successfully had a number of candidates come into Freemasonry over the years from these concerts.

There are two people to thank for the success of these band concerts, Derek Robinson and David Peacock. Derek has been the charity steward for the lodge and has helped raise so much money over the last four years since the lodge started these band concerts. Back in October, a new charity steward was installed and he has big boots to fill. David has been the person organising the band concerts with the church as he is the church treasurer and having a musical background helps get other bands interested in performing.
