Food insecurity is a major issue to many less well-off families. The challenge of feeding a family can be distressing for those suffering from rising costs of living. The Noor Foodbank based at Noor Hall on Noor Street in Preston is dedicated to making a positive impact on the life, health and wellbeing of those who are struggling.
They have a simple objective, to provide food for those who need it. The Noor Foodbank is a non-profit organisation operated by a team of around 30 volunteers who give their time freely to help those in need. Currently, they support around 1,700 people in their locality around Noor Hall. The majority of their clients are from the local Muslim community. The Foodbank is open every Monday evenings at 6:30pm for people to call in and seek assistance. In addition, the volunteers provide an emergency delivery service when needed.
The Preston Masonic Group were humbled to support these dedicated volunteers. The Preston Masons have provided £500 worth of groceries to the foodbank in order to help them to maintain their valuable service. David Parker and Simon Wright made the delivery and had an opportunity to meet with Sully and Mobeen who are just two of the active volunteers. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the work of the Noor Foodbank and care for the community again shows the best of Preston.
