The members of Halcyon Lodge No 6500 hosted a Giving Morning at Preston Masonic Hall where they donated £1,500 to local charities. Galloway’s Society for the Blind, Heartbeat Cardiac Care and the Motor Neurone Disease Association each received £500.
Galloway’s Society for the Blind is based in Penwortham. They offer services to support local people with visual impairments to maintain their independence, adjust to sight loss and connect with others. Many of their staff have personal experience with sight loss, so they understand the challenges involved. Galloway’s regularly train their team on the latest developments, products, events and services to ensure they provide accurate and helpful information. Michelle Hawley came down to Preston Masonic Hall on behalf of Galloways to receive a cheque form Paul Hardman, lodge charity steward.
Heartbeat Cardiac Care is a long-established heart disease charity in Preston. They provide services for nearly 1,000 patients every week including specialised exercise programmes, clinical testing, nutrition, lifestyle and well-being support. Sally Field and Lisa Riding received the cheque on behalf of Heartbeat from Harold Sutcliffe, lodge mentor.
Motor Neurone Disease is a devastating and as yet incurable condition. The Noth Lancashire and South Cumbria branch of the MNDA is run entirely by volunteers and aims to provide the best possible support to local people with MND, their families and carers. Halcyon Lodge brethren welcomed Frances Clare to receive their cheque from Paul Hardman.
