The foundations at St John’s of Jerusalem Chapter 203, are safe, as another construction site manager was exalted. Ashton Foat joined his colleague, Jim Langley who had been exalted at the chapter’s pervious meeting.
The ceremony took place in the colourful Egyptian Rooms at Hope Street Masonic Hall Liverpool, with Ashton being joined with guests from his own lodge Temple Lodge No 1094, and others.
As approval had been given for the extra ordinary meeting, the main agenda was to ballot for and approve Ashton to become a companion of the chapter. The ballot having been approved, Steve Dovaston, the first principal, asked Dave Ullathorne, the principal sojourner, to retire and entrust the candidate for his exaltation.
When Dave returned Ashton was admitted, and a friendly and sincere ceremony took place, presided over by the first principal Steve Dovaston, second principal Ray Parr and Steve Carroll third principal. The second part of the ceremony saw assistance given by a visitor John Leisk, who assisted in fine style as acting first sojourner.
Steven Roberts gave a very impeccable mystical lecture to Ashton, with careful presentations of the signs. The chapter was then closed in due form and all the companions retired to the dining room for the festive board.
At the festive board, all the companions and guests made Ashton very welcome. Ray, who had proposed Ashton, gave the toast to his health and welcomed him to the chapter, with Steve Walls, Ashton’s seconder, also reflecting on the new member, within his response to Grand Chapter.
Ashton replied with an equally welcoming response, saying how he was looking forward to taking part in the chapter and looking forward to the next meeting when the chapter will hopefully have another exaltation. The final toast of the evening was made.
