Sparkles is an independent ladies boutique based in South Liverpool and they arranged a Fashion Show with a two-course lunch supporting Clatterbridge Breast Cancer. This is the second event to be held at Garston Masonic Hall, Island Road, Liverpool.

The afternoon began with 104 attendees supporting this charity with entertainment by Mike Powell. The organiser, Paula Johnson, supported by the Garston Hall Chairman Mal Yates, welcomed everyone to the event and encouraged them to purpose their raffle tickets. Paula also informed the attendees that there was a shop opened in the hall where ladies attire could be purchased.
Paula introduced Victoria Jones, a breast cancer survivor who is the leader of the Liver Bird Choir and the choir moved to the stage and sung a medley of well-known songs to an attentive appreciable audience. The Liver Bird Choir is all about boosting confidence and mostly importantly, a healthy mind. The choir is designed to lift spirits and release those feel-good endorphins. Victoria also did a solo spot with songs sung in tribute to Cilla Black.

Anthony Jones from the Clatterbridge Charity that the aim was to raise £5,000,000 over 5 years for treating cancers with innovations in radiotherapy, being able to pinpoint cancers better at Clatterbridge bases in Liverpool and the Wirral. They are also researching a cancer vaccine which is attracting professors and doctors to Merseyside.
When the two-course dinner had been enjoyed, which was provided by Tony Ackroyd, it was time for the Fashion Show, with several ladies parading different types of attire that could be purchased from the shop. The next event was the raffle with a total of 22 raffle prizes that had been donated which included vouchers and several bottles of wine.
The afternoon concluded with Mike Powell on his second spot of the afternoon providing music which had the dancers on the floor. This is another example of Garston Masonic Hall supporting the local community with charity fundraisers with the valuable help of Mal Yates and Carl, Tony, bar and catering staff. The Sunday afternoon charity event raised the magnificent sum of £2,750 for Clatterbridge Breast Cancer Care.
