The Garston Memorial unveiled on 6 November 1927 was unveiled by public subscription to perpetuate the memory of the men of Garston and district who gave their lives for King and Country in the Great War. On Remembrance Day at the Memorial, Gary Mason of the Lodge of Harmony No 220 laid a wreath on behalf of the lodge.

Liverpool City Council elected members Sam Gorst and Lucy Williams invited the Armed Services, veterans and local community groups to attend the local Armistice Day Remembrance Service ceremony. The service began with a welcome from the Pastor Robert McAvoy and then the Reverend Alyson Tunstall from St Michael’s Church Garston led the prayers and hymns were sung by the congregation.

The next parts were the exhortation, Last Post and then the two minute silence at 11 which was observed and then the wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial. Alyson Tunstall brought the ceremony to an end with the Lord’s Prayer and then the National Anthem and a short speech from Sam Gorst. The ceremony was attended by a large group which included lodge members from the Lodge of Harmony,
After the ceremony everyone attended a lunch which was sponsored by the Councillors and Darren Melia from Sureseal Windows held at Garston Masonic Hall. The attendees included the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Barbara Murray. All who attended had an enjoyable afternoon whilst respecting the people who lost their lives to give us ours. During the lunch it was an ideal opportunity to speak with people from the community and explain to them briefly some aspects of Freemasonry.
To complete the day, a raffle was held which included memorabilia from Leicester and England goalkeeper Gordon Banks and other various donated prizes which raised £300 for charity.
