With the sun beaming down over the Fylde Coast on a crisp autumnal morning, 30 diners arrived at Rigby’s Farmhouse restaurant in Warton near Preston for a delightful family Sunday lunch. With a private room holding four large tables, the atmosphere was perfect for lively conversation across tables and across the room.

Following an introductory welcome and a grace by Fylde Light Blue Club Chairman Ian Fell, everyone tucked into their starter course, which included a choice of soup, chicken goujons or prawn cocktail. This was efficiently followed by main courses of roast beef, roast pork or lamb shank. All served with seasonal vegetables of broccoli and cauliflower cheese with roast potatoes and lots of gravy.
Towards the end of the main course Trudi Heelis and Polly Hernen kindly offered to sell raffle tickets for the 13 prizes displayed in the restaurant bay window. The raffle was drawn by Del Hernen, who ably managed the random number generator on his phone, which saw prizes being evenly spread out across the four tables.
A few of the more ardent diners opted for a dessert of either apple pie, lemon meringue, cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding, accompanied by custard, cream or ice cream.

In his concluding remarks, Ian Fell thanked everyone for their attendance and support. He announced that the raffle had raised a splendid £175 which will be distributed to Masonic and non-Masonic worthy causes. Ian also promoted the upcoming veterans Sunday lunch to be held on 25 October 2026 at the Park Club in Cleveleys.
