De Grey and Ripon Chapter No 1356 was opened in due form at 6pm by the three principals; first principal Keith Lindsey, second principal Albert Hogg and third principal Barry Mault, with the assistance of the principal sojourner Malcolm Jolley.

At the appropriate moment, the director of ceremonies, Steven Williams, retired for a short time to join a procession. An alarm was raised and the DC was admitted and announced that Graham Williams, the representative of the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews, seeked admission. Graham was accompanied by grand officers and acting Provincial grand officers. Graham was warmly welcomed to the chapter by Keith Lindsey.
The next business was to install the three principals for the ensuing year. Barry Mault, who could not be present due to work commitments, will be reinstalled as third principal on a later date, Stephen White stood in for Barry as third principal for the evening. The DC presented David Spear as second principal elect and Albert Hogg as first principal elect. With the principals having taken their positions; appointments and investments of the officers for the ensuing year was carried out
With the installation completed, the new first principal Albert Hogg had a pleasant duty to perform, that being to make a presentation of a cheque for the sum of £500 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, for which Graham thanked the companions of the chapter for their continued generosity.
When all the business of the evening had been completed, it was time for all the companions to retire and partake of the festive board.
