The election of David Maher as first principal of Fermor Hesketh Chapter No 1350 took place at Litherland Hall where David was being proclaimed and installed for the third consecutive term by special dispensation.
The small but elite gathering was honoured by the presence of Graham Chambers, Chairman of Ormskirk and Bootle Group, representing the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews. Graham was accompanied by his vice chairman Stephen Dunn and also by two acting Provincial grand officers, Mike Gray and Ian Tupling.
Once the initial chapter business had been completed the DC David Sullivan announced that Graham Chambers was without and sought admission. Graham was then brought into the room accompanied by the acting Provincial grand officers.
The ceremony began with David Maher being proclaimed as first principal by the Scribe Ezra Russell Skidmore before David asked Colin Shannon to occupy the third principal’s chair for the ceremony, whilst Alan Parkinson was installed as second principal and Simon Gray then took Colin’s position after his own installation as the third principal.
After all the officers had been appointed and invested, Graham offered congratulations from the Grand Superintendent and offered his own congratulations to all the participants for a brilliant job considering the circumstances. David Maher then thanked him and was pleased to pass a cheque to Graham for £50 in support of the Litherland Masonic Hall. Graham thanked David and the companions of the chapter for their generosity.
The festive board was a traditional Christmas meal which was much enjoyed by all and who were happy to contribute to the staff Christmas box which was duly presented. Graham then brought further greetings from Mark Matthews and informed the companions that the Membership Initiative had done well but was hoped to do even better in the future although it is currently suspended to allow a period of reflection on the progress made and any possible changes. Graham was then proud to report that within the Bootle and Ormskirk Group six different Foodbanks were now being supported.
