The master of Eccleston Lodge No 7754, John Anderson, in the Chorley and Leyland Group, took time out from his busy schedule to visit Barbara and Heather from Leyland in Bloom, who, along with other volunteers, do a lot of good work around the town.

John said it was a pleasure to meet up and hear what the group of volunteers do around Leyland. John had arranged to meet t Barbara and Heather at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland, to present them with a donation of £150 on behalf of the members of the lodge.
Leyland in Bloom maintain various sites around the town planting beautiful flowers and keeping weeds at bay. They are a group of volunteers who maintain flowerbeds all year round for the good residents of Leyland and the communities around town.
They do litter picks on a regular basis and they have organised a scarecrow competition around the town. They also run a book club in the museum. Leyland in Bloom originally began as a community competition but now it has evolved further, and the ‘Bloomers’ are transforming local spaces.
In September 2025, they ran a stall at an event in Leyland called, A Taste of Leyland, and raised over £135 on a game of Tombola due to the generosity of the towns people, with the money going towards their projects. The group have also been involved in an event run by South Ribble Borough Council.
If anyone wants to know more about the good work that the Leyland in Bloom volunteers do or if anyone is available to give some of their time to help out Leyland in Bloom with planting, weeding or litter picking, please contact either Barbara or Heather via the group’s Facebook page by clicking here.
