Darren Reeve was installed as WM of Heysham lodge No 4108 in the presence of Assistant Provincial Grand Master Malcolm Bell. Malcolm was accompanied by Past Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison and grand officers Keith Kemp, Alan Jones, John Robson and Neil McGill. Also, Scott Devine, Chairman of the Lancaster and District Group and vice chairman Chris Larder were joined by Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Larry Branyan and Provincial Grand Steward Andy McClements.
WM Christian Reeve opened the lodge and conducted the installation ceremony assisted by director of ceremonies Torquil MacLeod. The installing officers were; senior warden Mike Lyon, junior warden Mike Brown and inner guard Bob Malcolm. The master elect was presented for installation by director of ceremonies Torquil MacLeod.
The third degree working tools were presented by John Clark, the second degree working degree tools were presented Peter Roberts and the first degree working tools were presented by Ian Byrom. The WM appointed Michael Reeve as senior warden and Craig Cleasby as junior warden. Craig was unable to attend and will be invested at the next regular meeting of the lodge.
Torquil MacLeod gave the address to the master, the address to the senior warden by David Malcolm, the address to the brethren of Heysham lodge by Malcolm Bell and the address to the stewards was given by Andy McClements.
Malcolm Bell was presented with a list of donations that the lodge had made to Masonic and non-Masonic charities totalling £2,877.65. Malcolm thanked the brethren of Heysham lodge for their very generous donations.
The organist was David Tattersall and the Master’s Song was performed by John Bates. A total of 70 brethren attended the festive board at Heysham Golf Club. The toast to the WM was given by Torquil Macleod.
Darren Reeve was born and bred in Morecambe and is a Sandgrown`un. He attended St Patricks Primary School and then Our Lady’s Secondary School. Darren left school at 16 in 1990 and served an apprenticeship in pipefitting where he travelled around the UK and overseas. In 2000, Heysham Lodge director of ceremonies Torquil MacLeod, a site manager for an engineering firm at Heysham power station, offered Darren the opportunity for local employment and he had various roles within the company. Darren worked for this company until 2013, before moving to EDF-Energy.
He has been married to his wife Beverley for 26 years and they have two daughters. Outside of work and Freemasonry, Daren enjoys running and cycling. Darren was introduced to Freemasonry by Torquil MacLeod back in 2013 and was initiated in December of that year, passed to the degree of a fellow craft in May 2014 and raised to the sublime degree of a master Mason in January 2015. Darren is looking forward to his year in office and hopes to enjoy every minute of it.
