Freemasons from Dalton-in-Furness Lodge No 6828 have continued their charitable giving with a donation of £500 to Dalton Leisure Centre. The donation supports the centre’s ongoing work in promoting health, wellbeing and community activity. The cheque was presented by lodge charity steward David Baker during a visit to the facility. During the visit, members were able to see first-hand the positive impact the centre has locally.

Dalton Leisure Centre provides a vital service for people of all ages across the Furness area. It offers a welcoming space for fitness, social interaction and community engagement. Dalton-in-Furness Lodge has been established in the town for many years, playing an active role in supporting the local community. Its members are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds, united by shared values. These values include integrity, respect, friendship and a commitment to helping others.
Dalton-in-Furness Lodge has consistently supported local causes and organisations over many years and this latest donation reflects that continued commitment to the local community. Freemasonry places strong emphasis on charitable giving and community support. Members aim to make a positive and lasting difference wherever possible; this is achieved through both financial support and personal involvement.
Provincial Grand Master, Mark Matthews, has highlighted this approach, stating: “Freemasonry must remain visible and relevant within its communities.” He also emphasises: “Supporting local people through meaningful action is at the heart of what we do.” Dalton-in-Furness Lodge continues to reflect these principles in practices, and the presentation at Dalton Leisure Centre is a clear example of this commitment. Freemasonry in West Lancashire remains dedicated to supporting the communities that it serves.
