At Dalton-in-Furness Lodge No 6828, supporting the local community has always been at the heart of the lodge’s existence. The lodge, which was founded in 1949, has a proud tradition of commitment to charitable giving and public service. Its members, who are drawn from across the Furness area, represent a cross-section of local life and they continue to uphold the Masonic values of integrity, friendship, respect and service.

That commitment was proudly demonstrated through a £250 donation to Barrow Foodbank, an organisation providing vital support to individuals and families across Barrow and Furness. The donation was formally presented at a visit to the foodbank by David Baker, representing the lodge, (David holds the office of lodge charity steward), directly to the Barrow Foodbank team, in the person of Matt Burden.
During the visit with Matt, it was well illustrated just how essential the foodbanks work is, by not only providing foodstuffs, toiletries etc, but by offering practical help, dignity and reassurance to those facing difficult circumstances. Foodbanks such as this, continue to experience increasing demand, particularly during the winter months.
Donations such as this help to ensure that emergency food supplies remain available to those who need them most, right here in our local area. Dalton-in-Furness Lodge would like to thank the Barrow Foodbank volunteers and staff for their tireless efforts and dedication to the community. The work of the foodbanks and their volunteers nationally and locally often go unseen, yet its impact is felt by so many.
This donation reflects the lodge’s ongoing commitment to charitable giving and community support and they look forward to continuing to contribute where they can. Together, small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference.
