Two intrepid members of the Chorley and Leyland Light Blue Club (Corinthian Club) Committee made a trip to Burton-on-Trent to visit the Science Fiction and Fantasy Lodge No 10016 for a very memorable ceremony and festive board.

Gary Matthews and Kieran Taylor-Bradshaw heard about the new special interest lodge while listening to Craftcast, the Freemasons podcast, who had invited their secretary David Leask to introduce the lodge. Kieran reached out to David following the podcast episode and requested news of their next meeting, interested himself to visit but also sure that other brethren would be too, he was thrilled to learn that their next meeting was a third degree ceremony with a festive board titled theme.
The ceremony was even more memorable than expected, with certain items being swapped for sci-fi and fantasy versions and the festive board did not disappoint either with many members and visitors dressing up in cosplay for the occasion.
Brethren from all over the UK were present, with a large group from the Province of Durham who had made the long trip down to enjoy the meeting together, and over £1,000 was raised for charity within the lodge and at the festive board.
Not to ruin any future first visitors, the least said about the visit the better, but Kieran commented that another visit to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Lodge is planned, and details will be shared by the Corinthian Club when a date is set.
Their next meeting is on 8 March for a second degree ceremony. If you would like to visit, Kieran is sure David Leask would welcome you as he did them. David’s email is secretary@scifiandfantasylodge.org.uk Kieran’s own lodge, Carnarvon Lodge No 2376, who meet at Preston Masonic Hall, are welcoming one of the Craftcast’s presenters and Director of Membership and Communication at UGLE, Shaun Butler. to their next meeting on 10 March.
