Colin Preston was installed as WM of Scorton Lodge No 5791 in the presence of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Philip Preston, the representative of Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews. Philip was accompanied by grand officer Keith Jackson, Chairman of Lancaster Group Scott Devine and Vice Chairman Chris Larder. Acting Provincial grand officers in attendance were Assistant Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Mort Richardson and Provincial Grand Steward Andy McClements.
The lodge was opened by WM Ken Parker who conducted the installation ceremony assisted by director of ceremonies Andrew Gardner. The installing officers were senior warden Richard Parker, junior warden Chris Yates and inner guard Andy Curwen.
The third degree working tools were presented by James Newhouse, the second working degree tools by Michael Milburn and the first degree tools by Adrian Walker. The WM appointed Jimmy Greer as senior warden. Dave Jenkinson was not able to attend and will be installed as junior warden at the next regular meeting.
The address to the master was given by Andy McClements, the address to the senior warden by Richard Parker, the address to the brethren of Scorton Lodge by Philip Preston and the address to the stewards by Andy McClements.
Philip Preston was presented with a list of donations that the lodge had made to Masonic and non-Masonic charities to the value of £9,108. Philip thanked the brethren of the lodge for their very generous donations.
The organist was Keith Jackson and the Master’s Song was performed by Nigel Parrish. A total of 70 brethren attended the festive board. The toast to the WM was given by immediate past master Ken Parker.
