The 2025 broken column event, which has now become an annual occasion, brought together nearly 50 widows from all across the Chorley and Leyland Group for a lovely afternoon tea and entertainment.

Colin Preston, the group treasurer, and his wife Susan had the great pleasure of representing the group at this worthwhile event, which was held at the beautiful Brookfield Hall, Westhoughton’s Masonic Hall.
Everyone present had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon tea, while being entertained by the talented Tristan Parrock, who sang a medley of popular songs from Gary Barlow, Take That and many others.
Before the end of the event, each widow was gifted a lovely hamper which had been created by the ladies and gent who organised the event; Mary Noblet, Susanna Matthews, Ann Wilson and Antony Price. A huge thank you to them all and everyone who helped make the afternoon such a memorable and enjoyable occasion.
With this now becoming an annual event, lodge almoners are encouraged to invite their widows to join in the friendship and fellowship at these events. If you know someone who would like to attend the next event, please get in touch with your almoner to get their name down.
