Bootle Pilgrim lodge No 1473 donated £400 to Bootle Buck’s Inclusion FC which was set up in 2018 with a view to offering football coaching to the local community, challenged children who had little or no access to organised football sessions or a place to train, keep fit and enjoy socialising with other youngsters with similar challengers

They will be taking 280 children, along with parents and siblings, to Wales to take part in what is believed to be one of the biggest inclusion football tournaments in the UK, with clubs attending from across England and Wales. Bootle Buck’s Inclusion FC are covering transport costs themselves, which comes to around £7,500 just for the buses. They are also helping subsidise fuel costs for every vehicle travelling. Even with hotel subsidies and they still need to raise around £14,000. Which is why the brethren of Bootle Pilgrim Lodge donated.
In June, four members from the lodge will be taking part in the annual Pubathon, which on the day will hope to raise a further £4,000, which is being organised by Kieran Owen who is a member of the lodge. The Pubathon, which is run every year consist of 10 pubs donating a barrel of beer (85 pints) from Boote to Crosby. Each person is given a Tour T Shirt on the day, which allows them to collect their pint from one pub to another and enroute they have collections, games and spot the balls, all hoping to raise further funds.
From an initial membership of 16 people, Bootle Buck’s Inclusion FC now have over 200 active members aged from 4 years old to 41 years old. They have teams playing regularly in the Liverpool Ability Counts League at Under 13, Under 16 and Open Age. In their first season they are pleased to say that their teams won league titles in all age groups. A massive step up and a confidence booster for youngsters who had little or no previous experience of playing in or being part of a team.
They currently train at Bootle Football Club and operate 2 sessions at this location each Saturday. 9:00am to 10:15am and 10:30am to 12.00 noon. Please click here to view their website.
