Allan Roberts was installed as the master of Border Lodge of Installed Masters. No 9274. The representative of the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews and principal guest was Andrew Whittle PAProvGM accompanied by David Marlor the Deputy Chairman of the Trafford Group

Before the lodge opened, David Marlor had a pleasant duty which was to present Andrew Whittle with the now traditional Trafford Treats (Eccles cakes). The lodge was opened by WM Jeffery Winstanley and the regular business was carried out. Andrew and David were then admitted and salutations given.
The installation of Allan Roberts into the chair of King Solomon went ahead and was done in the usual Border Lodge of Installed Masters manner with humour and great sentiment. The working tools of each degree were explained by; in the third degree, Nick McCarthy, in the second degree, Craig Sutton and in the first degree John Brailsford.
With the ceremony of installation complete, the WM, Allan, presented Andrew with a donation of £300 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. Andrew thanked Allan and the brethren of the lodge for their generous donation. After all the lodge business had been completed, Allan closed the lodge in due form and all retired to the social board. At the social board, Allan reminded everyone that at the next meeting he would be celebrating his 50th year in Freemasonry and hoped that everyone could attend.
In his response to the toast to the grand officers, Andrew thanked the lodge secretary Tony Edden for all he had done to make the evening a success. He also touched on membership and that there had been about 300 initiations per year for the last three years, plus keeping contact with any members that had not been to meetings and maybe contact those brethren after the meetings.
Andrew also mentioned about Royal Arch and trying to get the membership to at least 50% of the Craft. He thanked David Marlor for his company for the evening and wished all the brethren a good year and to enjoy their Masonry.
