The installation meeting of the Lodge of Chivalry No 3974 saw Wayne McGuffie installed into the chair of King Solomon by the installing master, Stuart Flynn.
Adam Woods invested Wayne and placed him in the chair of King Solomon. The working tools were delivered in fine fashion by Andrew Sephton, Craig Kitts and Stephen Bailey, who was only initiated two meetings before the installation meeting.
Grand Officer, Graham Chambers, as the principal guest, representing the Provincial Grand Master, Mark Matthews, said after the meeting that it was a delight to see all three working tools being delivered by new members and it is rare to see a lodge that has all its officers in light blue aprons.
The immediate past master presented a list of lodge donations to Graham, who announced details of them to the visitors: £500 to the following: Friends of Tithebarn, Marfan Trust, Little Lights Liverpool Baby Hospice, Wigan and Leigh Hospice, West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, Masonic Charitable Foundation, Twinkle House, and Autism Initiative Group, and £1,000 to Ormskirk Masonic Hall Association. A grand total of £5,000 in the 2025/26 season.
After the meeting, 43 brethren enjoyed a four-course meal, starting with chicken liver and brandy pâté, followed by sugar-baked ham served with roast potatoes, a panache of seasonal vegetables and gravy. Followed by warm cherry bakewell tart with raspberry ripple ice cream, with cheese and biscuits to finish.
During the evening, over £500 was raised to top up the lodge funds for next year’s donations. At the end of the evening, the brethren left having enjoyed a wonderful meal, with a warm feeling, having met old friends and some new ones.
