At the March meeting of Fermor Lodge No 1313, it continued its season of growth by welcoming its newest member into the Craft. The evening was a testament to the lodge’s thriving membership and the enduring appeal of Freemasonry in the community.

The lodge was opened in due form by the master of the lodge, Damon Noone Jr. The first order of business involved a successful ballot for two candidates, the evening’s initiate Michael Molyneux and a further candidate slated for April and both of whom were approved unanimously by the brethren.
In a gesture of fraternal collaboration, the WM invited Michael Clarke to occupy the chair of King Solomon. He then proceeded to conduct the first degree ceremony with his trademark precision and solemnity. Michael Molyneux, a longtime friend of the lodge, was duly admitted and conducted through the ceremony by the deacons, Jake Higham and Richard Higgins, who guided him with confidence and care.
The excellence of the evening was further bolstered by several standout presentations with the working tools delivered with a ‘polished’ flair by Callum Clark and the charge to Michael was presented with characteristic gravitas by the junior warden, Alan Davies. To ensure a smooth start to his Masonic journey, Michael was presented with his mentor’s pack by the lodge mentor, Alister Sainter.
During the risings, a significant motion was brought forward on behalf of the secretary. Chris Latham was delighted to propose that Hugh Mett be made an honorary member and appointed as the honorary organist. This proposal was seconded by the senior warden Neil Walsh, and met with the full support of the lodge, recognizing Hugh’s contributions and musical talents.
The celebrations moved from the temple to the festive board, where the atmosphere remained joyous. The traditional Entered Apprentice’s Song was performed with great spirit by the immediate past master, Damon Noone Sr, as the brethren officially welcomed Michael Molyneux into their ranks.
Fermor Lodge shows no signs of slowing down, with another initiation scheduled for April. The brethren extend a warm invitation to any visiting brethren who wish to witness their high standard of ritual and enjoy their renowned hospitality.
