Companions of Earl of Lathom Chapter No 730 hosted a very special installation ceremony at Chorley Masonic Hall, which saw Bill Nelson installed as first principal, George Askins second principal, and Chris Upton as third principal. All three being installed into their chairs for the first time.
The chapter was opened by first principal Allan Scott with his co-principals Bill Nelson and George Askins. Allan recently celebrated his 50th year as a Royal Arch Freemason and will be celebrating his 60th year in Craft next year with Carnarvon Lodge No 2376.
Following the administrative business, the chapter was delighted to welcome as its principal guest Paul Hesketh, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals and representing the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews. Paul was accompanied by fellow grand officers Tom Jackson and Neil Ward. Acting Provincial grand officers present were Jeff Lucas, Provincial Grand Standard Bearer and Derek Robinson, Provincial Grand Steward and group mentor, who represented the group executive.
The installation ceremony then took place, with the three principals being installed in an exemplary manner and the address to the companions of the chapter was delivered by Paul Hesketh. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Paul brought greetings of the Grand Superintendent Mark Mathews, congratulating all who had taken part in an excellent installation ceremony of the highest standard. The first principal had the pleasant duty of presenting amounts given to charity during Allan Scott’s year in office which amounted to £1,100, a truly magnificent amount. Paul thanked the companions of the chapter for their generous donations.
Following the evenings business everyone retired to a wonderful festive board where the Principal’s Song was rendered by Brian Flynn. The charity collection in the chapter and raffle at the festive board raised a total of £313 to further the chapters charitable endeavours.
