Makerfield Chapter No 2155 held its annual installation at Leigh Masonic Hall, and the principal guest was Graham Chambers as the representative of the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews. Graham was accompanied by Garry Bryon the Wigan and Leigh Group Deputy Chairman and grand officer was David Case. Acting Provincial grand officers in attendance were; John Pitches, Andy Baxendale, Barry Corcoran and Martin Stewart. The visiting officer was Terry Dickinson and the chapter DC was Anthony Roe.

The first principle was Ian Boardman, the second principle was David Gordon-Williams and acting third principal was Eric Miller. The chapter opened with the usual procedures after which the DC brought in the distinguish guests. Graham was presented to Ian and wished him and the chapter to have a wonderful ceremony.
Thankfully the chapter has had three regular new members in the last year, another new member is to be exalted in May, all from Makerfield Lodge No 2155, and hopefully another candidate from the lodge to be exalted in November this 2026.
On this occasion, the chapter DC proclaimed its first principal Ian Boardman and David Gordon-Williams as second principle both for the ensuing year, John Thompson a past first principle was presented to the acting third principal Eric, who asked John to reaffirm his obligation in the usual manner.
In any other business on the summons, Tony stood to propose David Bridge, a past master of Makerfield Lodge, as a candidate for exaltation in May 2026, David Banks seconded that proposition. Graham then stood to give the best wishes of the Grand Superintendent and his own sentiments to the chapter, expressing even though the ceremony was short, it was done in a proper and orderly way by all members of the chapter.
As is usual in the first risings the distinguished guests retired, the chapter finished its normal business then all companions retired to the festive board. The festive board was a fun packed affair at times; the visitors enjoyed the much humour that prevailed, as many companions had known many of the guests over the years.

Graham gave an excellent speech to the companions in his response to the grand officers, mentioning how pleased he was to see many new members and a new member to join shortly. He mentioned many options that were being used to promote the individual chapters, such as white table events that had always produced excellent benefits and how successful the Bikers’ Chapter No 1380 had become, and that on 6 June 2026, the Bicentenary event in Leyland will take place. Finally, he wished the companions all the best success and happiness for the ensuing year and beyond. In total, 21 companions attended the meeting enjoying a wonderful three course meal at the festive board.
