A proud father from Bermuda, Clyde, visited Leigh to witness his son Sinaj Saltus being raised to the sublime degree of a master Mason at the Marquis’s of Lorne Lodge No 1354 in the Wigan and Leigh Group of Lodges.

The lodge was delighted to welcome Sinaj’s father to witness his son’s remarkable journey to becoming a master Mason.
This year marks Sinaj’s first year in his Masonic journey, and he expressed his excitement and gratitude for the experiences he and his family have had. He began the year with his initiation and quickly became a fellow craft.
Sinaj has thoroughly enjoyed acquiring new knowledge, developing new skills, and participating in various Masonic events. Notably, he took part in the peppercorn parade in Bermuda at his father’s lodge, which is affiliated with the UGLE. Sinaj is eagerly anticipating what the future holds.
In January 2025, Sinaj was proposed in open lodge by Aiden Murphy, seconded by J.M. Beswick. Both members are immensely proud of Sinaj’s commitment and progress in the lodge and Freemasonry. Sinaj expressed his gratitude to the members of the Marquis’s of Lorne Lodge for their warm welcome and the opportunity to become a master Mason.

Clyde, Sinaj’s father, is a master Mason at St. George’s Lodge No 200 in Bermuda. Despite his diverse career, which includes driving a mini bus, landscape gardening, and operating an excellent engine repair business, he makes time for his Masonic pursuits.
When Sinaj was presented to the WM, John Phillips, in the second degree, he demonstrated exceptional ability in answering the questions posed to him. In the third degree, the senior warden expertly guided the candidate, ensuring a clear understanding of the ceremony’s proceedings.
The WM always does an exemplary job as master, working closely with his wardens and deacons. They knew precisely how and when to conduct themselves during this wonderful and difficult ceremony. Sadly, a few members of the lodge were absent due to illness and demanding work commitments. All this was overseen by Andrew Hardman, the lodge director of ceremonies.
Not forgetting Glynn Jones, the IPM and lodge chaplain, who delivered the Ecclesiasts section with a superb rendition and he also managed to learn all the prayers of the ceremony. John Holding, the inner guard, ensured the candidate felt at ease when entering the lodge for the second time.
After the ceremony, recently raised Liam Matzke was presented with his Grand Lodge certificate, which brought the biggest smile ever.
At the social board, the brethren enjoyed a delicious menu of vegetable soup and a cob, followed by a wonderful healthy portion of steak pie with vegetables and huge chips that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
There was plenty of banter and time to catch up with many friends. As always, the evening ended in peace and harmony.
