Bispham-with-Norbreck Lodge No 4731 held its annual Ladies Evening at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool, where brethren, ladies and guests gathered for an occasion that reflected the lodge’s traditions of fellowship, respect and celebration. Guests were welcomed into the grand ballroom on a warm and pleasant evening, with the director of ceremonies, Gordon Major, ensuring the proceedings commenced with dignity and good order.

Principal guest on the evening was Pam Sutton, partner of WM Martin Clements, whose presence brought a personal and heartfelt focus to the evening. The lodge was further honoured by the attendance of the Provincial Grand Master, Mark Matthews and his wife Debbie, and Deputy Provincial Grand Master Frank Umbers and his wife Cath. Mark and Frank both attended purely as guests and their relaxed participation added distinction and contributed to the overall sense of occasion.
Staff at the Imperial Hotel provided a well-received meal, beginning with a smooth pâté starter, followed by a tender chicken main course and concluded with a rich chocolate dessert. The hotel staff delivered attentive and efficient service throughout, ensuring that the evening progressed seamlessly.
The atmosphere in the ballroom was one of warmth and enjoyment, with conversation and fellowship reflecting the best traditions of the lodge. Once the formalities were concluded, the entertainment began with a Motown Trio whose lively performance quickly encouraged guests onto the dance floor. Their music created a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, with guests dancing continuously throughout the night. The trio’s energy ensured that the ballroom remained full, with couples, groups and individuals all taking part, contributing to a cheerful and spirited conclusion to the evening.

A raffle formed an important part of the night’s proceedings and was conducted with great enthusiasm. A wide selection of prizes had been generously donated, creating considerable interest among the guests. The raffle was well supported and resulted in a magnificent total of £615 being raised. The funds will be directed to both Masonic and non-Masonic charities, reflecting the lodge’s ongoing commitment to charitable giving and wider community support. The success of the raffle added a meaningful and purposeful element to the evening, complementing the enjoyment of the event with a tangible contribution to good causes.
The ladies ‘favours’ were filled with delicious Swiss chocolates and a little surprise in the form of a lucky-dip lottery ticket for the evening’s draw. Nobody went home a millionaire, but all were far richer for the company they shared, the laughter enjoyed and with an overall sense of fun and friendship.
