With 22 companions present at Brookfield Masonic Hall, the installation of Westhoughton Chapter No 4215 got underway. The companions witnessed Peter Hannis being expertly installed as first-principal for the first time by Derek English.
The chapter companions were honoured by the presence of Third Provincial Grand Principal David Barr. David was accompanied by Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies Gary Smith and group chairman Peter Allen. Supporting the principal guests were acting officers; Jayson Jackson, Derek English, group secretary Mike Silver and group treasurer Colin Preston.
Once installed as first principal, Peter then continued the installation by installing Duncan Hopkins as second principal, with Duncan then installing William Garland as third principal, both delivering great ritual.
Following the installation of Westhoughton Chapter’s new principals, the robe addresses were given with great skill and understanding by John Dowsett, Mike Silver and David Peacock.
Before the installation ceremony was completed, a cheque for £500 was presented which will be donated to Prostate Cancer Research, Westhoughton Community Assist Service and Westhoughton Banqueting. David Barr thanked the companions of the chapter for their generous donation to charity.
Following his installation, Peter said it was a very special occasion because Derek English also installed him as master of his Craft lodge, Lever Park Lodge No 8144 in 2015.
To end a nice and relaxed meeting everyone came together at a friendly festive board after enjoying an installation with a high standard of ritual.
